    4-day Mount Meru climb itinerary:

    Day 1: Momella Gate (1,500m) to Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)

      • Drive to Arusha National Park: After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate for registration and park formalities.

      • Start the trek: Begin your hike through the lush rainforest, where you may spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, and colobus monkeys.

      • Ascend to Miriakamba Hut: The trail gradually climbs through open grasslands and montane forest.

      • Hiking time: 4-6 hours.

      • Overnight: Stay at Miriakamba Hut, where you’ll enjoy dinner and rest for the night.

    Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,570m)

      • Early start: After breakfast, begin the steep ascent through the forest and into the alpine zone.

      • Scenic views: Enjoy panoramic views of the Meru Crater and the Ash Cone.

      • Arrive at Saddle Hut: Reach Saddle Hut by midday, where you’ll have lunch and rest.

      • Optional hike: You can take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m) for stunning views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.

      • Hiking time: 3-5 hours to Saddle Hut (+ 1-2 hours for Little Meru).

      • Overnight: Stay at Saddle Hut and prepare for the summit attempt.

    Day 3: Summit Day – Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak (4,562m) and Descent to Miriakamba Hut

      • Summit attempt: Start your climb around 1:00-2:00 AM. The trail is steep and rocky, with some scrambling sections.

      • Reach Socialist Peak: Watch the sunrise from the summit, with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro, the Meru Crater, and the surrounding plains.

      • Descend to Miriakamba Hut: After summiting, return to Saddle Hut for a short rest, then continue descending to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

      • Hiking time: 10-12 hours (summit and descent).

    Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate – Return to Arusha/Moshi

      • Final descent: After breakfast, hike back to Momella Gate through the rainforest, with opportunities to spot wildlife.

      • Celebrate: Receive your summit certificate and celebrate your achievement.

      • Transfer: Drive back to Arusha or Moshi for a well-deserved rest.

      • Hiking time: 2-4 hours.
